Our History
John Stratemeyer and Ashley May started Strat Security and Fire in 2016. In this time, Strat Security and Fire has grown into one of the most trusted and well-known independent fire, security, and wiring solutions providers in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Our team has a combined 27 years of experience and we have over 5 knowledgeable sales consultants and trained installers to make sure your home or business has the best level of protection installed right! We’re employee-owned so everyone on our management team personally cares to make sure your home or business is protected.
We also offer 24/7 monitoring for home and business along with interactive services to give you peace of mind and convenience from anywhere.

John Stratemeyer
Founder
John founded Strat Security in 1992. In over 25 years, John has grown the business into one of the most trusted and well known independent security companies on the east coast.
His interest in security started while studying electricity at a vocational high school. After graduating, John started working for another local security company and decided to use his skills and interest to start his own business.
He enjoys boating and riding motorcycles in his free time.
Ashley May
CEO, Strat Security & Fire of North Carolina
Ashley has been in the Fire and Security industry for over 25 years. Ashley began his career as a technician, installing and servicing residential and small commercial burglar alarms. He then progressed into installing camera systems and fire alarm systems, and eventually moved into sales and management of National accounts. Ashley formed his own company in 2013 that ultimately led him to a chance meeting with John Stratemeyer, which started the partnership for the Strat Security & Fire of North Carolina division.
Ashley is trained in various systems and holds several nationally recognized certifications, including a NICET Level IV certification in Fire Alarms. He also holds licenses in multiple states for low voltage electrical systems.
He enjoys playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his two children and family.
